Each year, kitten season brings new challenges with millions of homeless kittens born in the US alone. Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue works with thousands of cats and kittens each year, doing our part to reduce the nationwide homeless cat population. We are proud of our kitten specific program, including the Mini Kitty Committee foster program, an onsite spay/neuter clinic, routine vaccinations pre-adoption, low cost post-adoption vaccinations, diagnostics, urgent care, and so much more for the cats in our care. During kitten season our animal intake numbers skyrocket which means overhead increases dramatically from Spring through Fall. As a shelter that does not receive government or municipal funds, this is the time of year that we most need to look to individual donors to help the kittens of RMFR.
Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue’s Mewsic on the Catio event is a day complete with sun, fun, lawn games, trivia, music, and a surpurrise or two - oh, and don’t forget cats! Shower kittens with gifts, donate to RMFR causes, and enjoy one (or three!) of our musical acts for the day.
Northern Utah native Jack Keith makes music with friends from the Wasatch to his adopted home in the Rockies. 20 years living behind the Zion Curtain fueled his early angsty gen-x rock and still lingers in the margins of his songwriter’s notebook. Working in folk, rock, and blues bands has shaped his own songwriting and performing style, with lyrical vocals and harmony at the heart of it all. Jack’s songs are cage-free, ranging around poetic folksy allegory, occasional socio-political commentary, and foot stomping barnburners, ringing every emotional bell in the carillon.
Steve Gilbert and Roberta Holbrook are BlueCana. The name is a blending of just two of the music styles we love – Blues and Americana.
Steve Gilbert has played in several rock bands over the years, and his real passion for playing the guitar has always been rooted in acoustic music, primarily Blues, Folk and Americana. Roberta Holbook followed her music dream early with a successful career on the road singing and playing in clubs. She is pleased once again to be focusing on playing music full-time. Together with sweet harmonies, guitars, and keyboards, Steve & Roberta (BlueCana) keep the audience engaged as they perform a variety of songs that include Americana, Blues, Folk, Classic Rock and more. Steve and Roberta agree that the Denver area has a strong family of welcoming, generous, supportive and talented musicians and they are grateful for the sense of community they have found here.
